EPL Week 3 Preview & Best Bets

Another week of Premier League drama unfolds with Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool all undefeated still. Both Chelsea and Nottingham Forest are hot on their heels with favorable fixtures ahead. After last week’s results all 3 of the newly promoted squads have already won their first top flight game of this young season. Manchester United continues to search for any positives after their poor start. Managers Unia Emery for Aston Villa and Graham Potter for Brighton are already on the hot seat. Newcastle and Crystal Palace have both lacked creativity after their top players have been targeted by larger clubs.

Arsenal @ Liverpool

Two teams in the top 3 spots in the Premier League table headlines match week 3 when Arsenal travels to Anfield. Both sides have come out of the gates hot on offense scoring over 2 goals a game. Arsenal have been much better defensively than Liverpool conceding only 5 to their 12. Corners have been a particularly good source of scoring for Arsenal recently with Declan Rice’s whipped crosses. Liverpool have gone 18 consecutive home matches in the Premier League unbeaten and Arsenal have gone 15 away matches without a loss. This is truly a match up of an unstoppable force meeting an immovable object and something has to give. Both teams have scored in Arsenal’s last 6 Premier League games against Liverpool. Liverpool has seen goals scored by both teams in each of their last 7 Premier League matches. Expect goals and plenty of drama in a battle of two of the best sides the Premier League has to offer.

Best Bet: Over 2.5 goals (-140)

Fulham @ Chelsea

Fulham visits Stamford bridge with contrasting forms between the two sides based on recent performances. The home side sits in 4th place on the table, while Fulham finds themselves in 13th. Furthermore, Chelsea have gone undefeated in their last 7 outings in all competitions, while Fulham are winless in their last 3. Chelsea have averaged 1.33 goals scored in their last 12 Premier League matches and are only conceding 0.67 goals in that span. Traveling to Stamford Bridge has not ended well for Fulham historically with just 1 win in their last 5 attempts. Conversely, Stamford Bridge has been kind to the home side recently with a run of 18 unbeaten in their last 20 games in the Premier League. Fulham won this exact fixture 2-1 last season, but this year Enzo Maresca’s side will be ready to play.

Best Bet: Chelsea & over 2.5 goals (+111)

Bournemouth @ Tottenham

Tottenham are sitting 2nd in the Premier League table and hope to pick up points while Arsenal and Liverpool battle it out at Anfield. Bournemouth are no slouch themselves sitting only 3 points back on the Spurs. While results have been positive for both, Tottenham have been scoring at a much higher rate averaging 2.5 goals scored to Bournemouth’s 1.5 goals scored per game. On top of that Tottenham are fresh off a statement 2-0 victory over Man City last week. 2 consecutive clean sheets to start the season underlines how balanced this Tottenham side is. Thomas Frank will look to become just the second manager with victories in his first 3 Premier League games with Tottenham. Bournemouth have managed just 1 win in their last 6 away games in the Premier League and that trend will continue here.

Best Bet: Tottenham & over 2.5 goals (+120)

Everton @ Wolverhampton

Everton travels to meet Woverhampton at the Molineux on Saturday with both teams fresh off a Caraboa Cup victory. Wolves are winless so far in the Premier League but defeated West Ham midweek. In fact Wolves are goalless in the league but still managed to put 3 past Graham Potter’s side. Everton have won their last 2 matches in all competitions with a win against Brighton in the league and Mansfield in the cup. The addition of Manchester City loanee Jack Grealish has looked to give the Toffees added quality in attack. Although more dynamic on offense, Everton have the most expected goals against in the league (4.6) with heroics from goalkeeper Jordan Pickford rescuing them thus far. Both sides have struggled to keep opponents at bay so far this season which makes both teams to score as the best bet at Molineux stadium.

Best Bets: Both teams to score – Yes (-120)

West Ham @ Nottingham Forest

West Ham head over to the City Ground to face Nottingham Forest still searching for their first points of the season. Nottingham Forest have had a decent start to their season with 4 points from their first 2 matches. Both sides have been average at scoring goals just over a goal scored per game in their last 10 games in all competitions. While Forest has been better defensively in that time allowing 14 goals to 20 goals against for Everton. Last season, Nottingham Forest dominated winning both meetings 3-0 and 2-1. Graham Potter is already on the hot seat and will be hard pressed to find a result here.

Best Bet: Nottingham Forest ML (-150)
