NFL TNF Preview: 3 Key Questions, Best Bets & Player Props

Jayden Daniels and the 1-0 Washington Commanders travel to Lambeau Field to take on Micah Parsons and the Packers fresh off their 27-13 win over the Lions. The Commanders had a far easier opponent week 1, but were still exemplary making quick work of the New York Giants 21-6. This game offers an exciting matchup between 2 playoff bound teams that play quality football on both offense and defense. Commanders and Packers fans will be excited after their team’s showings last time out with dreams of a Super Bowl creeping in already. Let’s take a detailed look at how these 2 teams will matchup in Lambeau Thursday night and the key questions facing each team.

In 2024 the Green Bay Packers had one of the NFL’s top defenses ranking 8th in points allowed and 2nd in sacks. Even with those defensive stats the Packers still finished 3rd in their division and lost to the Eagles in the 1st round of the playoffs. So they added Micah Parsons, who is undoubtedly one of the NFL’s premier passing rushers, to generate even more sacks for the Packers tally in 2025. Despite not being at 100% in week 1 Parsons still managed to record a sack against the Packers division rival Lions and the defense looked even better in a rout. If Parsons takes the Packers defense to the next level then you can expect Jayden Daniels and the Commanders to struggle significantly more than they did against the Giants in week 1.

Best Bet: Packers -3 (-110)

Player Prop: Jayden Daniels Under 43.5 Rushing Yards (-110)

Commanders Stout Defense or Giants Bad Offense?

The Commanders held the Giants to just 74 yards rushing on 23 attempts in week 1 including stops on the 1 yard line. The Giants don’t boast the strongest running back room or offensive line so it’s hard to tell whether it was quality defense or simply inept offense being played. However, I believe that in this case both can be true at the same time. The Commanders defense was flying all over the field, limiting big plays and penalties while harassing quarterback Russell Wilson all game long. They will certainly face a much tougher test next week against Jordan Love, Josh Jacobs and company but I think this Commander defense is here to stay. Jacobs managed just 66 rushing yards a week ago on 19 carries and I like the Commander’s run defense in this matchup.

Best Bet: Under 48.5 (-110)

Player Prop: Josh Jacobs Rushing Yards Under 77.5 (-110)

Can 7th Round Pick Jacory Croskey-Merrit Lead the Backfield?

In the Commander’s opening game the rookie rushed for a staggering 82 on just 10 carries for a 8.2 ypc average. He also punched in a touchdown run from 6 yards out in the second quarter to put his team ahead 14-3. The Commanders had a leisurely opening game to their season against the lowly Giants and were able to run all over the G-men to the tune of 220 yards. The Packers’ run defense is stout holding the Lions to only 46 yards rushing a week ago on 22 attempts. I think Croskey-Merrit is a stud and will be the primary ball carrier for the Commanders until further notice. Veteran Austin Ekeler will be the backup and the pass catching running back. This is the best time to bet on Croskey-Merrit as I’m sure Vegas and bettors will catch on soon to just how good this rookie is. Unfortunately, the Packers look to be one of the NFL’s premier defensive units so I’ll take the safer pick of over 9.5 rushing attempts prop for Croskey-Merrit.

Player Prop: Croskey-Merrit Over 9.5 Rushing Rushing Attempts (-110)
