Even more mid week Champions League drama as European giants Bayern Munich and Chelsea square off in Munich. Liverpool hosts Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid squad at Anfield in what is sure to be an intense affair. Not to be outdone, a pair of Italian clubs in Inter Milan and Atalanta take on Ajax and PSG. With a ridiculous amount of quality sides battling it out today I’ll bring you the in depth analysis to make the best bets for match day 2 of the 2025/26 Champions League season.
Atletico Madrid @ Liverpool
A major clash of Champions League mainstays takes place at Anfield as Atletico travels to Liverpool. Both sides won their previous game, but Liverpool are on the better form overall boasting a 4 game winning streak and are unbeaten in 5. Simeone’s side always have a strong defensive identity and this one is no different opening their La Liga season with 3 out 4 games going under 2.5 goals scored. Their defense will be necessary in this game as offensively Atletico have been struggling only scoring more than 1 goal in 1 out of 4 league games so far this season. Head to head 3 out of 4 games have gone under 2.5 goals scored between these two sides and I expect that trend to continue here. Even though it seems too simple I like the under in this game as these teams have low scoring affairs when they meet.
Best Bet: Under 2.5 Goals (+125)
Inter Milan @ Ajax
Ajax will host Inter Milan at Johan Cruyff Arena seeking their first win over Inter having failed to win any of their previous 4 encounters. Inter Milan’s dominance extends past Ajax and across all of the Netherlands having never lost in 12 Champions League games against teams from that country. Domestically, Inter is coming off a loss to rival Italian giants Juventus 4-3, while Ajax had a much easier fixture against PEC Zwolle which they won 3-1. Ajax have been playing well at home so far this season securing 4 wins out of 4 matches played. Even though Inter Milan are the better and more experienced team, I like Ajax to hold strong in defense at home in this fixture and earn a hard fought draw. I also like the under for the same reasoning.
Best Bet: Draw (+290), Under 2.5 Goals (+122)
Chelsea @ Bayern Munich
Chelsea return to the Champions League and are welcomed back by German giants and past rivals Bayern Munich. Bayern have dominated Chelsea and England as of late only losing 1 of their last 11 home games against English sides. Chelsea drew in their last game to Brentford in the Premier League and will be faced with a significantly tougher test today. On the other side, Bayern boast a 5 game winning streak across all competitions and no losses in their last 6. Chelsea are a young and dangerous team, but I expect Bayern will be one of the best bets to win this competition outright. Their mixture of high pressing and experience as well as noise from the home fans will be too much for Chelsea to handle as I like Bayern to come out on top.

Atalanta @ PSG
In just the 2nd meeting between PSG and Atalanta all time, the Italian side open their UCL campaign with a trip to the defending champions. PSG dominated in last season’s final defeating Inter Milan 5-0 and they have been dominant over Italian sides as of late. In fact, only 1 of the last 11 meetings between PSG and an Italian side have been won by the Italians. Both sides have shown that they can score goals in their domestic leagues with PSG scoring 10 goals in 4 matches and Atalanta tallying 4 goals in their last match alone. PSG will run rampant in this one with their high press creating havoc against an inexperienced Atalanta manager, Ivan Juric, who has never managed in a Champions League game. I like the total of 3.5 goals to go over in this one as Luis Enrique’s side continue their Champions League dominance from a season ago.
