Lions @ Ravens
A pair of 1-1 teams with Super Bowl aspirations meet in a highly anticipated matchup between Jared Goff and Lamar Jackson. The Ravens coasted to an in easy win last week as they knocked off the Browns 41-17 with 4 passing touchdowns from Jackson in that contest. The offense led by Jackson and RB Derrick Henry have begun the season hot dropping 40+ points in both weeks, although the defense and a late Henry fumble let them down in their week 1 loss to the Bills. The Lions struggled on offense against the Packers in their week 1 matchup, finishing with just 46 rushing yards on 22 attempts in the loss. While the offense has been up and down, Dan Campbell’s team has shown resiliency on defense allowing just 6 total touchdowns with 3 interceptions and 8 sacks through 2 games played. The return of DE Aidan Hutchinson has provided a massive boost to a defense that surrendered 45 points in their playoff loss a season ago to Jayden Daniels and the Commanders. The Ravens offense is currently leading the league in scoring so Hutchinson and the Lions will be facing a challenging test tonight. On the flip side the Ravens will be without their star pass rusher Kyle Van Noy and DT Nnamdi Madubike who already has 2 sacks to his name on the season. Jared Goff excels when he can pick apart a defense in a clean pocket and it will be unlikely that the Ravens are able to replace Van Noy and Madubike’s production. I expect both offenses to score points in this matchup as the Ravens have one of the best in the NFL while the Lions are no slouch either on offense and are facing an injured defense. So, I’m going to take the over on the point total of 53 for this contest. I also like the Ravens to cover the spread at home controlling the game against a team with a less balanced offense. My final plays are player props for Jared Goff to have over 260 passing yards and DeAndre Hopkins to have over 20.5 receiving yards. Hopkins has been a downfield threat for Lamar and the Ravens as of late totaling 99 yards through 2 weeks this season. Another interesting fact for the Ravens, Lamar Jackson boasts an impressive record of 19 wins and 5 losses in primetime games during his career.
