A pair of 2-1 NFC West Foes meet in Glendale, AZ!
Team Form
The Seahawks have bounced back from their week 1 loss to the 49ers with a pair of wins against the Saints last week and Steelers in week 2. Sam Darnold threw for 2 touchdowns in their 44-13 win over the Saints, but it was rookie WR Tory Horton who stole the show with a 95 yard punt return for a touchdown. Their opponent the Arizona Cardinals, whose only loss is also the 49ers, were defeated in their last game 16-15. The Cardinals had a favorable schedule to begin the year with matchups versus the Panthers and Saints. Their running back room took a big hit when James Connor went down with a season ending injury in their loss to the 49ers last week, but his backup Trey Benson is a solid replacement. Kyle Murray has been under-performing so far this year averaging just 181 passing yards per game and his chemistry with receiver Marvin Harrison Jr in particular has been lacking.
Trends
The trends favor Seattle as the Seahawks have won 7 in a row against their division rival Cardinals. When traveling the Seahawks have been on fire recently going unbeaten in their last 7 away games. Also, in 7 of the Seahawks last 9 games the point total has gone over which suggests a high scoring game is on the menu. The spread opens with the visiting Seahawks favored by 1.5 points and the point total set at 43.
Plays
I like the Seahawks to cover the spread in this one as their offense and defense look to be at full speed already. The Cardinals have been disappointing on offense so far despite winning 2 games through 3 weeks, and the loss of star RB James Connor won’t help matters. I also like the over in this matchup with the point total set at just 43 that’s simply too low even if Kyler Murray and company haven’t been up to standards. A player prop I’m looking at for this matchup is Kyler Murray to have over 209.5 passing yards as he tries to bring his team back in the second half. I also like Sam Darnold’s line of over 219.5 passing yards as he has been playing extremely well since week 2.
