Manchester United @ Brentford

Brentford will host Manchester United at Brentford Community Stadium this Saturday following a 3-1 loss to Fulham last weekend. Manchester United picked up a massive 3 points versus Chelsea in their chaotic last fixture that saw both teams receive a red card. Head to head this fixture has been competitive with Brentford winning 2 and Manchester United winning 3 matches in their last 5 matchups. Defensive midfielder Casemiro will be suspended for this game after he received a red card in their last game. Brentford are unbeaten in their last 3 home matches conceding just 1 goal per game in that span. The home side will not possess the ball for long periods in this matchup but their average of just under 35% possession per game suggests they are prepared to sit deep and hit United on the counter. Across 12 away matches United have shown to be vulnerable losing 6 and scoring 1.33 goals per game while conceding 1.33 goals as well. I like Brentford to frustrate United with a low block and cover the 0.5 goal spread at home in this encounter.

Best Bet: Brentford +0.5 (-130)

Liverpool @ Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace will host the Premier League leaders Liverpool who sit comfortably at the top of the standings with 15 points from 5 games. Crystal Palace have been on a solid run of form and have yet to lose a game this campaign, although they do have 3 draws in 5 matches. Last time out Crystal Palace got the better of a struggling West Ham side 2-1, but a fixture with the league’s top team at the moment will be a serious undertaking. Liverpool have been in great form to start their season including a 3-2 win over Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. This fixture has a history of being a high scoring affair, with 19 of Crystal Palace’s last 29 matches with Liverpool going over 2.5 goals scored. Liverpool have looked unbeatable so far this season and I like them to win at Selhurst Park and the total to go over 2.5 goals.

Best Bets: Over 2.5 Goals (-130), Liverpool ML (-110)

Brighton @ Chelsea

Chelsea fresh off a loss to Manchester United last weekend will host Brighton who beat them home and away a season ago. Brighton who drew against Tottenham 2-2 in their last Premier League fixture have lost each of their last 2 away league matches. Chelsea’s defense has been shaky lately as they have conceded 2 goals in each of their last 2 league matches, as many times as they’d done in their previous 15 games combined. Equally unstable in defense, Brighton have only kept 1 clean sheet in their last 17 Premier League matches. Both teams are on mixed form and have talented players with leaky defenses, so I like the total to go over the 3.5 goal mark.

Best Bet: Over 3 Goals (+130)

Sunderland @ Nottingham Forest

The first Premier League meeting since 1997 takes place this Saturday between Nottingham Forest and Sunderland. Sunderland have 8 points from their opening 5 league games more than they have ever had at this stage of a campaign since their 2010 season. Nottingham Forest drew against Real Betis 2-2 in their midweek Europa League tie and also drew in their last Premier League fixture. Going back further, Forest are winless in 6 matches this season across all competitions with 3 draws in that time frame. Including Championship fixtures, the head to head record favors Sunderland with 5 wins in their last 7 matches against Forest. The current form favors the visitors and the historical head to head also favors the Saints so I’ll take the underdog to cover the spread in this matchup.

Best Bet: Sunderland +0.5 (+100)

Arsenal @ Newcastle

Newcastle has struggled to score goals out of the gates in this Premier League season scoring just 3 goals in 6 matches this campaign. Arsenal on the other hand, have been dominant scoring 10 goals with just 1 loss in 5 games in the league. Interestingly, Newcastle holds the head to head advantage winning 4 games against Arsenal in their last 6 matches against the London club. Under Mikel Arteta, Arsenal have only lost more away games at Machester City (5) than they have away to Newcastle (4). While I’m not sold on Newcastle’s attack, I like their defense to protect homefield advantage at St. James’ Park and to cover the spread against Arsenal.

Best Bet: Newcastle +0.5 (-140)
