A pair of 3-1 NFC West teams face off with very different paths to this point in the season with injuries derailing the 49ers’ playoff hopes and the Rams looking like a serious contender. The Rams are coming off a 27-20 win against a surprisingly good Colts squad last week that came down to a last minute Tutu Atwell 88 yard TD catch and run. The 49ers lost to the Jaguars last week 26-21 for their first loss of the season despite Brock Purdy’s return to action. Purdy is out again this week and there is a feeling that the 49ers are just trying to stay afloat after so many injuries. Their 3 wins against the Cardinals, Saints, and Seahawks left much to be desired especially on offense. The Rams’ lone loss came at the hands of the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles after a blocked field goal with no time remaining. QB Matthew Stafford has looked rejuvinated this year already passing for 1,114 yards and 8 TD’s through 4 games. The Rams will enter this game favored by 8.5 points primarily due to the litany of injuries the 49ers have sustained. With Kittle, Aiyuk, Bosa, Jennings, Purdy, and Pearsall out due to injury the 49ers have been hit by the “injury bug” worse than any other team in the NFL. The Rams are 11-4 ATS in their last 15 games as a favorite showing they don’t usually play down to their competition. I like the Rams and the under in this matchup of 2 Cali teams as the 49ers continue to struggle on offense due to injuries. I’m also going to take the player prop for Davante Adams to get over 56.5 receiving yards as he has quietly performed well for the Rams so far this year while Puka Nacua takes the spotlight.
