Recap (Full Card at End)
Last matchweek we saw the upsets of Premier League giants Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chelsea tightening a race for the EPL trophy even further. Liverpool still sits atop the table, but Crystal Palace’s victory over the Merseyside club made them the biggest winners of last week. Manchester City looked more like their usual selves in a 5-1 dismantling of Burnley. With 4 matches on Saturday and 5 matches scheduled for Sunday we have a loaded EPL slate for this weekend. I’ll breakdown the best bets to make across all the matches with detailed insights and historical trends.
Tottenham @ Leeds
Leeds United will welcome Tottenham to Elland Road for a meeting between the 12th and 4th place team respectively. Tottenham have enjoyed their games against Leeds as of late winning each of their last 4 matchup against Leeds by a combined score of 14-5. Leeds drew to Bournemouth in their last game a quality result, but have managed just 1 win in their 6 Premier League games. With 7 goals scored in 7 games so far this year Leeds have struggled in front of goal although their defense has kept them afloat this campaign surrendering just 2 goals in 3 home matches. I like Tottenham in this contest as Leeds isn’t a threat to score while holding a particularly poor head to head record against the Hotspurs.
Best Bet: Tottenham ML (+150)
Sunderland @ Manchester United
Sunderland will travel to Old Trafford to face off with Manchester United after their 3-1 loss to Brentford last time out. Newly promoted Sunderland have had a terrific start to their season currently sitting in 5th in the table after 3 wins, 2 draws, and only 1 loss in 6 Premier League games. Much of their success has been due to their staunch defense as they have conceded just 4 goals this campaign after a 1-0 shutout win over Nottingham Forest in matchweek 6. Both sides have been poor offensively with each totaling 7 goals so far this year while Manchester United’s defense has been more susceptible to errors. Sunderland midfielder Granit Xhaka has assisted his side’s last 3 goals and the last time he faced Manchester United he also tallied an assist in January 2023. I like Sunderland to give Manchester United problems in this matchup as well as the total to go under 2.5 goals. Finally I suggest a player prop for Granit Xhaka to get an assist and Wilson Isidor to get over 1.5 shots as he has averaged 3.2 per game in his last 5 matches.
Best Bets: Sunderland +0.5 (+140), Under 2.5 (+120)
Player Prop: Granit Xhaka Assist (+1000), Wilson Isidor Over 1.5 Shots (-110)
Brighton @ Wolverhampton
Wolves, currently dead last in the Premier League table, take on 10th place Brighton at the Molineux this Saturday. Brighton has been in positive form winning their last game against Chelsea 3-1 and earning a draw against Tottenham in the match prior. Head to head Brighton also holds a distinct advantage with Wolves managing just 1 win in their last 6 matchups. Brighton has been superior in both attack and defense this year conceding 6 fewer goals and scoring 12 more than their opponents in 6 matches. The form and head to head trends are pointing in the same direction, so I like Brighton to earn a road win over a Wolves team still in search of just their 2nd point so far this campaign. I also like the total of 2.5 goals to go over as the Brighton high fllying offense matches up well with Wolves’ leaky defense.
Best Bet: Brighton ML (+100), Over 2.5 (-125)
Crystal Palace @ Everton
Crystal Palace are on cloud 9 following a 2-1 win over league leaders Liverpool in their last Premier League game. Everton started the season strongly, but have fallen off the pace in their recent fixtures drawing twice and losing twice in their last 4 matches in all competitions. The offense in particular has slowed down with just 2 goals scored in those 4 matches inlcluding their 1-1 result against lowly West Ham last time out. Crystal Palace have been especially strong on the road as of late winning each of their last 3 away matches, while Everton’s defense has been a fortress at home this year allowing just 1 goal in 4 outings. This is a matchup of 2 stalwart defenses with Everton struggling offensively in recent results so I’ll take Crystal Palace ot win and the total of 2.5 goals to go under.
Best Bets: Crystal Palace ML (+130), Under 2.5 (-110)
Manchester City @ Brentford
Brentford is set to host Manchester City at G-tech Community Stadium this Saturday after a 3-1 upset of Manchester United and an up and down start to their campaign. Manchester City trounced Burnley 5-1 in their last league fixture, but drew against Monaco 2-2 in their midweek UCL match. Even with that draw Manchester City have not suffered any defeats in their last 6 matches in all competitions and have scored 2 or more goals in 3 straight. Brentford have shown both a propensity for scoring and conceding, with both 12 goals scored and conceded in the Premier League this season. This will be a matchup of 2 very different styles of play as Brentford averages just 40% possession while Man City is north of 60% on average. I like Man City on the road to win this match and cover the spread of 1.5 against a newly promoted squad prone to allowing goals. I also am targeting Ruben Dias to get over 73.5 pass attempts as Brentford continue to sit deep and Man City hold majority of the possession.
Best Bet: Manchester City -1.5 (-110)
Player Prop: Ruben Dias Over 72.5 Pass Attempts (-130)
