Friday Night CFB: Best Bets & Player Props

Intro

Another great addition of college football games on Friday night with Louisville traveling to the 2nd ranked Miami Hurricanes. Not to be outdone, 25th ranked Nebraska will face Minnesota in a classic Big 10 showdown in Minneapolis. This will be a breakdown of those matchups where I will provide detailed analysis and trends to make the best bets on Friday.

Louisville @ (2)Miami

The first matchup of the night, QB Carson Beck and the undefeated Hurricanes welcome Louisville who were handed their first loss of the season last week to Virginia 30-27. Both teams have been strong on the defensive side of the ball with the Cardinals ranking 12th best in the country giving up just 262 yards per game with Miami close behind ranking 16th and yielding just 276.4 yards per contest. Louisville’s offense has been scoring points, but they have a definite turnover problem as they have turned the ball over at least once in each game and QB Miller Moss has thrown pick-sixes in each of his past 2 games. Their run game has been unexpectedly poor averaging only 115 rush yards per game and they will face a team in Miami that is especially strong against the run holding opponents to 87.4 rush yards per contest. As mentioned before, Louisville does have a strong defense of their own especially against the pass and they will face QB Carson Beck who is a strong contender for the Heisman trophy. Beck passed for 4 TD’s and completed 20 of his 27 passes in his team’s 28-22 win over in-state rival FSU in their last game before a bye week last week. I like the point total of 51.5 to go under in this contest as these are 2 of the best defenses in the ACC and possibly the country. I will also be targeting Louisville RB Isaac Brown to get under 54.5 rushing yards as he fumbled in their last game and will face an elite Miami rush defense.

Best Bet: Under 51.5 (-110)

Player Prop: Isaac Brown Under 54.5 Rush Yds (-115)

(25)Nebraska @ Minnesota

Dylan Raiola and the Nebraska Cornhuskers will travel to Minneapolis this Friday night after their dramatic 34-31 win against Maryland last week. Minnesota lost to the top tanked Buckeyes in week 6 but, rebounded nicely last week with a 27-20 win over Purdue. Nebraska has one of the top offenses in the country led by their QB Raiola who ranks 10th in the nation with 310 pass yards per game. The Cornhuskers turn those yards into scores often they average 41 points per contest good enough for 11th in the country. The only issue with Nebraska has been their ability to take care of the ball as Raiola has been prone to throw picks with 5 INT’s in his last 3 games. Minnesota doesn’t do anything particularly well ranking around the middle of the pack in both offense and defense, but they have been able to get take-aways ranking 20th in the FBS with a +5 turnover margin. They are also disciplined averaging only 33.7 penalty yards per game good enough for 8th in the country. One thing that Minnesota does not do well is run the ball, their leading rusher Fame Ijeboi has just 225 yards and 1 touchdown through 6 games. This is an interesting matchup and I’m focusing on the point total again in this game except this time I’m taking the over. I’m also going to take Drake Lindsey to get under 220.5 passing yards as he has struggled at times and Nebraska leads the country limiting opponents to just 118 passing yards per game.

Best Bet: Over 46.5 (-115)

Player Prop: Drake Lindsey Under 220.5 Passing Yds (-115)
