Intro/Recap
The reigning MVP Josh Allen single-handedly won the game for the Bills last week with an incredible 6 TD performance. He became just the 3rd QB in NFL history to pass and run for 3 TD’s in the same game. This was the 2nd time Allen has done it and the only other was Otto Graham back in 1954. While the Texans scraped by the 1-win Titans last week 16-13 on the road. Houston will once again be without QB CJ Stroud who will miss his 3rd straight game with a concussion, but their defense has still been keeping them afloat. They lead the NFL in scoring defense (16.3 ppg) and total defense (258.1 ypg) allowing backup QB Davis Mills to lead them to 2 consecutive wins which they had to have.
Injuries
As mentioned above the Texans will be without Stroud, but they will also be without LB Jamal Hill who hasn’t practiced this week. Starting Safety Jalen Pitre has been ruled out as well for Houston with a concussion for his 3rd straight absence. A trio of WR’s for the Bills in Curtis Samuel, Mecole Hardman, Khalil Shakir and TE Dalton Kincaid have been missing practice this week and their status is still to be determined. WR Keon Coleman was inactive in the Bills’ game last week due to a disciplinary measure and whether or not he will play remains to be seen.
Picks
This will be an interesting matchup with the Bills boasting arguably the NFL’s top offense against the Texans who are indisputably the league’s best defense. In games that have featured the Texans this season the average combined score has been just 38.3 so I’ll be taking the under in this contest. I also like the Bills to cover the spread as road favorites primarily because of Josh Allen, but also an underrated defense and RB James Cook. As far as player props go I’ll be targeting Dawson Knox with Dalton Kincaid possibly missing the game due to injury.
